Cast Iron Double Flanged (CI DF) pipes are commonly used for water supply, sewage, irrigation, and industrial applications. For decades, these pipes have been a reliable choice for infrastructure projects due to their strength, endurance, and corrosion resistance. The word "double flanged" refers to pipe ends with flanges on both sides, making it easier to connect pipes using bolts and gaskets. In contrast to typical spigot and socket couplings, this style of connection provides a dependable, leak-proof system that is simple to install and maintain.

One of the primary benefits of CI DF pipes is their strong construction. Cast iron is a strong and durable material that can sustain high pressures and heavy loads. This makes CI DF pipes excellent for both underground and above-ground installations, particularly in locations where pipes are subjected to external loads such as traffic or dirt. Their rigidity also reduces the possibility of deformation, resulting in a longer service life.
Flanged ends of CI DF pipes add to their ease of assembly and disassembly. This capability is especially beneficial in pumping stations, treatment plants, and industrial settings where routine maintenance, inspection, or replacement is required. Unlike push-fit or spigot-socket connections, flanged joints can be easily unbolted, allowing operators to service or replace sections without disrupting the rest of the pipeline.

In terms of performance, CI DF pipes are designed to efficiently transport water, wastewater, and other fluids. Their internal surface can be coated with cement mortar or epoxy to prevent corrosion and increase hydraulic performance by minimizing frictional losses. This liner enhances the pipe's lifespan while also ensuring the safe transmission of potable water. Cast iron pipes are also naturally resistant to corrosion and abrasion, making them perfect for tough operating circumstances.
